Sue Crotty Historical Museum

One of the sites maintained by the Iowa Falls Historical Society is the Sue Crotty Museum.  The site is named in honor of one of the original founders of the Society, and houses an extensive amount of memorabilia which highlights the history of Iowa Falls and the surrounding area.

Visitors can enjoy browsing through the many displays which commemorate various businesses and activities of historical significance.  There is the George Beebe Music Store, the medical office of Dr. Foster, the dental office of Dr. Folbrecht, the Swartz Drug store as well as Alice Mae’s Beauty Salon.  Other areas depict early school rooms, a business office, or shelves reminiscent of a general store.  Some areas may simply contain other commonplace, but interesting, items from the past. There are two rooms devoted to WWII history.  Another room is dedicated to famous broadcaster, Bill Riley, who was an Iowa Falls native.  Space is also allocated for display of information regarding inventor Carl Gade and the engine he developed.

The Sue Crotty Museum is located on the ground floor of the Carnegie Ellsworth building and can be accessed by using the west door (facing Stevens Street) of the building.  There is a handicap ramp and parking space is available on the street.
